This is a great card and commander for Naya () decks. Ruinous Path is just a worse Hero's Downfall. Particularly token creatures to make more use of the landfall mechanic. You probably already have half a dozen lands at least, so having that many 8/8s is too overwhelming to deal with. That's right, black has its own version of the infamous High Tide! While the attached pump effect isn't quite as excellent as being able to whittle away at your opponents' life totals while boosting your own, it can nonetheless prove valuable if you somehow manage to wipe the rest of a board. Wall of Resurgence gives creatures a 3/3 for you on top of being a pretty big wall at six toughness. All rights reserved. Of course, this also counts tapped land-creatures that you control, letting you often place every remaining land from your deck onto the field. This is just too much to reliably cast outside of mono-white, and all that work for a 4/4 wont usually be worth it. Replicate basically lets you cast the spell as many times as you want, so you could cast this five times for and animate five 3/1 lands. Theyre still lands. Animate land cards are any card, permanent or not, that can turn lands into creatures. Its an excellent win condition in enchantment decks that frequently have more lands (and mana) than they know what to do with. While it can't target players or planeswalkers like the more expensive versions can, the easy lifegain combined with relative ability to remove most creatures fits the bill for a lot of decks specifically centered around life totals. Of the cards we've talked about so far, the one that would definitely make our list would be Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, along with the ever-popular and ludicrously expensive Cabal Coffers. That's simply a lot of great effects, and the draws help ensure you actually have bonus lands to play. With its final ability, it returns all lands from your graveyard to the field, then shuffles your graveyard into your deck. I could see myself playing this in a mass-counterspells deck with a commander like Baral, Chief of Compliance, but nowhere else really. Useful as both a mono-green commander in EDH format or a regular deck member, legendary Azusa grants not one, but two extra land plays each turn.
